Samatha Meditation

Our program focuses on Samatha meditation, which has its roots in Buddhist teachings.

Samatha is a Pali word that may be defined as calm abiding. The object of Samatha meditation is to calm our mind and therefore calm our lives. By focusing our attention on a spot on the body and silently repeating a single word mantra, we allow our minds naturally to come to a peaceful state.
